TBS – Thumb Brake System
Product aimed at track enthusiast : the TBS (Thumb Brake System) introduced a new riding style with many advantages, mostly thanks to the better braking sensitivity offered by the thumb respect to the foot. Recently, this riding style became a real trend for track enthusiasts, in fact, once you get the necessary confidence with the operating lever, the thumb brake allows to control the bike even in cornering and to control the engine power output.
The strengths of the TBS system lie in the versatility of its structure, which offers many possibilities for setting and adjusting in order to exploit the layout of the bike (Important Note: the evaluation of the spaces available on the bike for mounting the TBS has to be cared by customer before purchase).
Thanks to its 4 versions (Base, Elite, Racing, Complete), this product can be Bar or Fork installed, and sometimes it allows to reuse the OEM master cylinder, avoiding further costs (provided that the OEM master cylinder features the requirements to fit the TBS, please see the draft in the gallery showing the dimensional requirements).
But for the most demanding, IMA Special Parts created its rear brake master cylinder, machined from billet in ERGAL, with technical features aimed to guarantee the perfect braking feeling.
TBS-BASE
It’s the cheaper version, this kit includes the master cylinder support, adjustable lever and adjustable pushing rod, with only one attachment solution of your choice: to the handlebar tube (Base B), or to the fork (Base F). The fork collars are available for 50 to 57mm diameter forks. This version provides for the abandonment of the pedal brake and the reuse of the OEM master cylinder as standard for the thumb braking just.
TBS-ELITE
It’s an upgrade of the TBS-Base, as the kit includes both the mount devices (Bar & Fork).
TBS-RACING
Further TBS-Base upgrade, aimed at those who want the thumb brake, but also want to keep the foot brake to have the double braking option. The kit includes the master cylinder support, adjustable lever and adjustable pushing rod, one mount device of your choice (Bar or Fork), and a special IMA Special Parts master cylinder to be applied to the foot drive. Also this version provides for the reuse of the OEM brake master cylinder for front mounting to the thumb.
Accessories: Red Ergal bleed nipple, to facilitate the circuit purging.
TBS-COMPLETE
Same function of the Racing version, but the kit includes two IMA Special Parts billet master cylinders, for both thumb and foot install, for maximum efficiency and compatibility.
